These are always my favorite types of vlogs. It's always really fun to hear someone passionate talk about things they're into

I got a 15 from a 12 just like you and it was mostly because of the USB-C. My 12 is still awesome but my iPad mini has USB-C as well so it makes sense to get off Lightening. I’ll be giving my old phone to Sasquatch so we can finally be on the same network.

It sounds like you have fun testing things out, that's good!
As a feedback from watching the last week: There were some days where it felt like faster turning of the camera looked more choppy than other days. I can see how that could lead to a motion-sickness type of thing if it happened a lot in the video. I'm guessing that might be related to the framerate?
And it was noticable that the sharpening wasn't happening anymore, it looked less sharp and more smoothed out to my eyes. I don't really have a preference either way, but it IS noticeable. Same for the colours, there were definitely differences between the previous phone, as well as day to day.
I think this vlog seems pretty good, though it's harder to judge a vlog where you don't move around like the other ones. Some very general feedback, I'm sure you already know these yourself, but hope it might still be helpful to know from an outside perspective. I hope you'll continue to have fun with it!

It would be a fun thing to see the difference between Apple vs Android cameras

I've not noticed anything with the video, but the AUDIO in this video was just off somehow. I feel like when you were using the blackmagic app, you didn't check the audio settings to make sure it was set to the right microphone that you were using (since the iPhone has like 3 microphones)

    • @stephenvlog
      @stephenvlog  11 месяцев назад +2

I noticed the audio problem on the first Blackmagic vlog, checked the settings again, and then shot this vlog as a sanity check. Unfortunately the Blackmagic app doesn’t let you choose specific microphones like Filmic does. I really hope they address that in a future update since it sounds way too different to my ears to justify using it for anything other than visuals only.

Can't believe it's been 10 years since Daily Pack was killed off...
Also this explains why the audio and video has been slightly different the past few days.

To throw in a comment regarding testing things out, audio in this vid seems to peak a little and leave audio noise, especially at 10:40

As someone who doesn't transfer large files off my phone, I gotta say. I kind of hate USB-C or at least how it's implemented on my phone. It's a chore just to get the bloody cable to stay in the phone because there is nothing to secure the cord in the phone. Not on the inside of the phone and definitely not on the cable because people just had to copy the stupid "plug it in ether way" from Apple. Kind of wish rather than reinvent the wheel, they would have just taken micro-USB and put the guts of USB-C inside of it. So that we get cables that stay in the devices they are supposed to stay inside of, and for those who need the faster transfer rate they can have it.
Sure getting a new phone *MIGHT* solve my problem, but that's an expensive way to fix what shouldn't be a problem in the first place. I still actively use my first micro-USB cable I got with a cheap bootleg MP3 player in late 2007, it's clips are still perfectly fine and I use it now to charge a USB power brick. Making me really wonder what people did to those cables to ever have an issue with those little clips.
My phone is 5 years old(Galaxy S9) so a new one isn't out of the question, but considering the price of new phones and the fact mine is still working for everything I use it for. I just can't see the value in getting a new phone. Phones really be in the same place computers are right now, they are to expensive to upgrade so you just run what you have until it dies. Unless you can get it on a payment plan, and end up paying 50%+ what the phone/computer was worth just so it could be affordable.

    Nerd vlog! Yay!
For why Apple wouldn't give you as much control over what you're shooting, to where you're only shooting in a (nice, but) REALLY costly format, I think it's a feature to them! I feel like most people will just use the camera app the phone comes with, and they'll wanna show off how super good it can look - and, at least on my phone, I know they let you pay for more storage... sooo my thinking is maybe they don't mind that storage filling up sooner than later so you start wanting to pay for more?
Just my thoughts! I'm still on an iPhone 7, I think, so I'm no expert. :') I appreciate how honest you are with your assessment of these things, not just gushing because new technology is cool and fun.

So, here's a question Stephen and pals - I've been looking at the iPhone 13 Pro or 14 Pro for a long time, and I figure with the 15 coming out the 13 and 14 will be a *little* more affordable now. How do the 13 and 14 Pro/Pro Max compare in terms of video/camera features, and is there enough improvements/things that the 14 (or even 15!) do better than the 13 to justify springing out a little more money for those instead?

Having been sporadically watching vlogs recently, I watched yesterday's and without knowing that you were using the iPhone, the only thing I noticed was the lack of 60fps, and I'm someone who generally notices these small things in video.

It's funny to me that iphone's biggest quality of life improvement in years is something they were essentially forced to do, USBC, and never would've implemented in a million years normally.

If its the pro or pro max its titanium. It's also just basically the 14 just USB-C and different casing. (I work for T-Mobile selling these all day)
